How to crack sbi po exam in 3 months?

Hello everyone, today I am going to tell you how to clear SBI PO exam in just 3 months with a proper study plan and strategy.

SBI PO is one of the most coveted exams in the country. Most of the candidates find it difficult to crack this exam only because they have no proper study plan and strategy to crack. Quantity and Quality of your attempts matters in both prelims and mains exam which further helps you in your interview process. So, without any delay lets start our journey in clearing sbi po exam in just 3 months.

As we know sbi po exam is divided in 3 phases prelims, mains and interview. All the 3 phases have different syllabus, sectional cutoff and sectional timing. That's why a separate study plan is required to clear all the 3 phases.

Prelims exam has 3 sections quantitative aptitude, reasoning and english language.

Mains exam has 5 sections data analysis and interpretation, reasoning, english language, general/banking/economy awareness and descriptive (letter and essay writing).

Besides the prelims and the mains exam an interview process is also conducted for candidates who qualify the prelims and the mains exam.

Let's start with the quantitative aptitude section. I will give you the complete study plan for both prelims and mains of this section.

1) Quantitative aptitude :- 35 questions (1 mark each) are asked in prelims for which you get 20 minutes. These 35 questions will be asked from 18 topics which you have to learn from the basics. Some formulas, tricks, smart study helps you a lot to score 35 out of 35. For each topic you should allot 2 or 3 days where you could grasp the concept completely. Understand the basic concept of any topic is the first step for any type of exam. For basic concept you can follow R.S Aggarwal book,  Arun Sharma, Rakesh Verma and some good Youtube channels like Meritshine, Aman sir, Kaushik Mohanty sir, Adda247, etc.

You should start the topics in this sequence :-

1) Number series (wrong and missing)

2) Simplification and Approximation

3) Quadratic equation

4) Data interpretation

5) Percentage

6) Ratio and proportion

7) Partnership

8) Average

9) Ages

10) Profit, loss and discount

11) Time and work

12) Pipes and cistern

13) Boat and stream

14) Time, speed and distance

15) Simple and compound interest

16) Mixture and allegation

17) Probability

18) Mensuration

The reason I am asking you to follow this sequence is because by doing this the chapters which are the highest scoring will be covered by you in the very beginning. The first four chapters covers 18 to 20 marks out of 35.

After clearing your basic what you should do is practice chapter wise questions from bankersadda and practice mock. From my point of view there is no need to go here and there when you have the actual place where you can find exam level questions. When you search online there are thousands of sites and apps which try to gives you exam level questions but when we have the exact location then why we waste our time. For prelims bankersadda and practice mock is the only site from where you can easily crack your prelims.

Third step you should follow is to give full mock test of quants or we can say you have to solve mock which gives you 35 questions in 20 minutes. I know many of you must be thinking why we give sectional test when our basic has already cleared then we will give full length test later. By doing this you will aware of the quants section of the exam and this will help you a lot when solve the actual exam.  Even if for some reason you don't appear for the full length before your actual exam, practicing this sectional test will help you to score maximum in your exam.

When you give mock test for the first time, your score may be low since you do have the practice to solve faster and under a time limit, don't be disheartened your score will gradually improve with practice. And one more thing which is most important is the analysis process. After giving mocks you have to analysis your mock in which you will see which of your questions went wrong and why and what could be the another way to do those questions that are correct. By doing this you will be able to increase your score that too in less time.

The quantitative section in the mains exam is called Data analysis and interpretation. In this you get 35 questions of 60 marks which you have to do in 45 minutes.

The quants section in mains exam covers arithmetic chapters in the form of data interpretation and remaining chapters are of high level as compared to that of prelims exam. But you don't need to worry, your basic is already strong. Before going to any app for mains exam you have to follow Harshal agarwal sir or Yashraj singh chauhan sir's mains level videos. They will make you clear all the concepts and pattern of mains level.

For mains exam you can rely on Oliveboard app. This app provides you the exact mains level question. All you have to do is to give sbi po mains level mocks on this app.

Now the question is how to balance the preparation of prelims and mains. For both the exams basic concept is mandatory. After that mocks are necessary, following a teacher is necessary. So if you look both the exams have a lot in common.

1st clear your basics with the sequence I told you. You have to practice mains level questions along with the prelims level. For example if you are practicing boat and stream chapter for prelims exam from any youtube channel you will take 2 days maximum from basics to prelims level after that from harshal sir or yash raj sir's videos you will practice mains level questions of the same chapter which you will complete in 1 or 2 days. This means that in 3 to 4 days you have understood the concepts from basic to mains level. But chapters like number series, simplification and approximation and quadratic equation concepts will be clear very easily in a day. All you have to do is practice these chapters from mock tests. Second thing is that chapters from 5 to 9 of the sequence that I have told you, you can complete each chapter in 2 days. One day for basic and for prelims level and second day for mains level. Chapters from 10 to 16 of the sequence need to be read a little carefully as they require a little more practice. Taking the mock test after this step will not be difficult as you have already practiced the mains level questions.

2nd give chapter wise mock tests of prelims level from bankersadda and practice mock. You can skip this step and give sectional test if you think your practice is enough.

3rd take sectional tests. This step is mandatory because this step will increase your speed and accuracy.

4th give oliveboard's mains level mock tests. This is the last stair of quants and on this stair you have to practicing mains level questions till the final exam.

2) Reasoning :- 35 questions (1 mark each) are asked in prelims for which you get 20 minutes.

1) Puzzles (box, floor, flat, designation, days, months, etc.)

2) Seating arrangement (single row, double row, circular, rectangular, uncertain, etc.)

3) Syllogisms

4) Blood relation

5) Direction and distance

6) Alphanumeric series

7) Coding and decoding

8) Inequalities

9) Ranking and order

10) Data sufficiency

So, this is the syllabus of prelims for reasoning in which puzzles and seating arrangement need daily practice and for the remaining chapters first thing you have to do is understand their basic concept because reasoning is the subject which we are not very familiar with. We don't know what syllogisms are, what are coding and decoding and how to solve them. And for this you have to follow Ankush lamba sir's videos on youtube. He explains all the concept from basics. I think you will understand these chapters very well in 10 to 12 days. After understanding these chapters, all you have to do is practice them from mocks on a daily basis. By doing this you will be able to solve these questions quickly and you will get 10 to 15 marks in the prelims exam. After 12 days you have to start puzzles and seating arrangement which you will practice with videos of Ankush lamba sir's and learn some tricks which will help you to solve puzzles quickly. He also have mains level videos which you will solve with prelims level videos. By doing this your prelims level puzzles and seating arrangement will be solve very easily. After that you will give sectional test of reasoning which will help in increasing your speed and accuracy. Accuracy completely depends on the analysis process. If you analysis your mock test very well then no one can stop you from clearing the exam.

If I talk about mains exam, then mains exam has the chapters of the prelims exam, the only extra thing is critical reasoning and machine input output. As we know mains level is a bit difficult than prelims level. But when we have a proper study plan, a proper strategy then even the difficult level will seem easy.

45 questions are asked in mains exam for 60 marks and the time given is 60 minutes. So, what should be the strategy of mains exam? Let's divide the mains level in 3 parts.

1st part is prelims chapters but of mains level. What will you do for this, you will follow the chapter wise mains level videos of Ankush Lamba sir. Some videos are on YouTube and if you want, you can also purchase their courses in which he gives many online lectures and also gives the pdfs. You already started practicing mains level puzzles with prelims level. So, by the time of actual exam, your speed to solve the puzzles would have been built up.

2nd is machine input output. You can easily learn this chapter on YouTube. There are many teachers who have taught this chapter from basic to mains level.

3rd is critical reasoning in which questions are asked from decision making, cause and effect, statement and assumptions, course of action, statement and argument, statement and conclusion, and so on. For this chapter you have to follow Harshal Agarwal sir. After understanding these chapters properly from sir's videos, you need to practice on daily basis. Many candidates consider these chapters to be difficult as these chapters are a bit confusing so you have to practice them as much as you can. That's why you will practice these chapters along with the preparation of prelims.

3) English language :- 35 questions (1 mark each) are asked in prelims for which you get 20 minutes and 35 questions are asked in mains exam for 40 marks and the time given is 40 minutes. English syllabus is same for both prelims and mains exam.

English is divided into 2 parts, first is grammar and the other is vocabulary. We can strengthen grammar by understanding its rules and vocab by reading newspaper. There are two steps to strengthen grammar, first is to read Paramount book volume 1 and 2 by Neetu mam and the other is to watch Nimisha bansal's 120 rules of grammar. The chapters that come in English are

Reading comprehension

Error detection

Cloze test

Match the columns

Fill in the blanks

Sentence improvement

Word swap

Para jumbles

By memorizing the rules of grammar, your error detection, match the column and sentence improvement questions will be solved very easily.

You will be able to solve Reading comprehension with your reading habit and vocabulary.

There are 2 ways to solve cloze test, first is to know by skimming which word will come in the blank and the other is part of speech. You can find out from the part of speech whether the blank will come in a verb or a noun or an adjective or an adverb. Part of speech method helps to eliminate option. Fill in the blanks is just like cloze test.

Word swap is very easy and scoring topic if you understand English sentence very well. In word swap you are asked to adjust 3 or 4 words.

There are 2 types of para jumbles, first in which you are given a sentence in jumbled form and second in which you are given 4 or 5 jumbled sentences. The first one is easy and the second one needs a little practice. No book is needed to practice English. Just search online for any concept you want to practice.

For English mock test you have to practice from 2 sources, first is bankersadda or practice mock, whichever suits you best and the second is oliveboard.

If you give 2 hours in English practice or mock test and 1 hour to newspaper and vocab everyday then really in 3 months you can score very well in English.

4) General/Banking/Economy awareness :- 40 questions (1 mark each) are asked in mains for which you get 35 minutes. This section contains static part of banking awareness and current affairs topics which are

1) Banking and Finance news

2) Economy news

3) Defense

4) Index (ranking and reports)

5) Government schemes

6) Appointments and recognition

7) Books and author

8) Apps and web portal

9) Acquisition and merger

10) National news

11) International news

12) Important days

13) Sports

14) Committees and Meetings

15) Events and Conference

16) Obituary

You have to remember the current affairs of the last 4 to 5 months. Suppose your exam is in june so you have to cover current affairs of the months of june, may, april, march, feburary. You have to choose 2 sources for current affairs, first is affairscloud which is mandatory and second you can choose any one from bankersadda capsules, studyiq, gk today, gradeup, oliveboard, etc. You will memorize affairscloud's weekly or monthly pdf and revise it from second source's weekly or monthly video.

If you are starting your preparation before 3 months of the prelims exam, then you have to memorize the current affairs of 5 months from the first day of the preparation till the exam so that you can revise after prelims exam.

5) Descriptive :- The descriptive test will be of 30 minutes and contain questions from letter and essay topics. Both are of 25 marks. You have to write an essay of 250 words on any one of the two topics, in the same way you have to write a letter of 150 words on any one of the two given topics.

Out of 2 topics of essay, one is a general topic like child labor, social media bane or boon, women empowerment, etc. and one is specific purpose topic like future of banking industry, role of effective credit rating, bitcoin, benefits and disadvantages of e-commerce, etc. and also some current topics.

Similarly, out of the 2 topics of letter, one is a general purpose topic like letter to your father for money, letter to your cousin to ask about his studies, etc. and other topic is like letter to municipal corporation for some complaints, letter to bank manager for delay in credit card process, letter to newspaper auditor, etc.

You can practice descriptive topics on Guidely app.

The final selection is based on the marks secured by the candidates in his/her mains and the interview process.
